SAFETY, SECURITY & LIFEBOAT DRILL

SAFETY & SECURITY

We are in compliance with the ISPS code implanted by the IMO (International Maritime Organization) under the auspices of the United Nations.  We have a company-wide and vessel specific security plan that is maintained and implemented in conjunction with our flag state, ship’s registry and each port we visit. The plan contains contingencies for multiple “security events”. We do not divulge our security plan to the public. Additionally we follow the lead of the US State Department, British Home Foreign Office as well as our insurers with regard to where we call upon.

SeaDream Yacht Club is keeping itself fully informed of potential danger to its passengers and its officers, staff and crew of SeaDream I and SeaDream II, at sea, in port and ashore. This is a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week responsibility. We are vigilant and constantly prudent. This is our highest priority.

EMERGENCY /LIFEBOAT DRILL

An emergency drill for guests will be held before the yacht sails from her embarkation port on each voyage. Attendance at these drills is mandatory, in accordance with International Maritime Law. This mustering will take place whether the ship is bound for sea or staying in port. Certain evacuation procedures might change slightly due to the mentioned conditions. The drill is the responsibility of the Master and he will determine when the best time will be to schedule the drill. Emergency procedures and lifeboat number are posted on the door in staterooms. In addition to actively participating in the scheduled drills, we urge guests to study this information carefully and to familiarize themselves with the use of life jackets, which are provided for every guest.  Emergency telephone numbers are listed in staterooms. Should there be more than 20% of guests missing at the time of boat drill yacht will organize face to face instructions for these guests.

Mustering Announcement (15 minutes prior to the drill)

Ladies and Gentlemen, your Captain, from the Bridge.

On behalf of one of the finest crew on the 7 seas, welcome on board the SeaDream 1.

I would kindly ask to have your attention for the following announcement, regarding your safety, ship safety. International law requires a life boat mustering to be exercised shortly after you have joined us. This drill is mandatory, and it is conducted for your safety and comfort. The drill will convey important information, and make you familiar with the emergency procedures.

The emergency alarm signaling this drill will be sounded 15 minutes from now.

The alarm consists of seven short, followed by one long signal given with the ship’s alarm system. You will find your life jacket, in your stateroom, stored under the sofa.

A poster on the door in your stateroom informs you about escape routs and your muster station.

Crew members will be stationed in the corridors and the staircases, ready to assist you up to the muster station, on deck no 5. When out on deck # 5, please line up as told by the officer in charge, to allow a smooth and efficient mustering.

General information

If an emergency should occur, again the emergency signal, seven short followed by one long, will be sounded.

When hearing the alarm signal, dress warmly, put your life jacket securely on and report to your muster station on deck # 5.

Do not bring with you any personal belongings.

Do not use the elevator, in case of a power failure.

If you should happen to be outside your stateroom when the alarm is sounded, then report to your muster station, where you will be given a life jacket. However today, I request you all to bring your own jacket from your stateroom. I would finally again ask you, please study the emergency procedure posted on the door inside your stateroom.

You will find your muster station and your life boat location clearly marked.

If you should have any questions, do not hesitate to ask anyone of the ships personnel.

Thank you for your attention.

5 minutes prior to sounding the alarm,

This is a reminder for the upcoming life lifeboat mustering, the alarm signal:

Seven short followed by one long signal, will be sounded, requesting you all to be present on deck # 5, with your life jacket on. While being mustered, we ask you kindly to refrain from smoking, and not to bring with you, any kind of soft drinks.

Thank you.

Life Boat mustering

(Chief Officer will monitor and advise when all guests are present)

Ladies and gentlemen!

A lifeboat mustering is always exercised shortly after you have joined us.

It is done in the interest of your safety and well being.

In an emergency situation, crew members will be stationed in the corridors, and the staircases. They are all trained to assist and lead you to your muster station on deck # 5. The station where you are now, will be your place to muster during this cruise, if a mustering should be required.

As you may have observed, your life jacket has a light, a whistle, reflection strips, the yachts name and your stateroom number, we know where you are.

The SeaDream 1 has 4 life boats. The boats have fresh water, food, first aid equipment, medicines and communication systems.

If it should be needed to abandon the Yacht, it will be done as follows,

children and Ladies first, then the ones whom might need assistance,

and Gentlemen, finally you.

If the boats are to be used, the loading will be organized by your boat commander.

The two forward life boats have been opened for embarkation, when this mustering is over, we will be happy to show you the boats, and any questions will be answered, to our best knowledge. Pls. when leaving the muster deck, be aware of the long straps on the life jackets. It is easy to step on them, and you know what can happen.

Thank you for your attention, wishing you all an enjoyable cruise.

Assistance to Special Needs Guest

In case of an Emergency, a crew member will report to the guest with special needs stateroom.  Yacht prepares this list based on information provided by guest at registration i.e. partially blind, difficulty walking etc. The crew member will assist the guest to their respective lifeboat muster station

Number 1, 2, 3 or 4 located on deck 5.

The guest’s muster station is marked on his or her life jacket. Assigned crew are requested to advice the bridge when they have accomplished their duties.

Please be aware that lifts cannot be used for evacuation, and that wheel chairs will be available in an Emergency situation by contacting the Medical Facility; ext. #599.
