CABOTAGE LAW

Embarkation/Debarkation
Our contract states the embarkation and disembarkation ports on a chartered voyage. Usually our contract also indicates the contracted day-by-day itinerary.

Embarkation/Debarkation outside of your contract
Requests for guests embarking or disembarking in other ports must be addressed to your SeaDream Charter Coordinator who will check with the local Port Authorities.

Most countries have rules and regulations governing where guests can embark or disembark. These rules and regulations are referred to as 'Cabotage Law'.

In the United States this law is commonly known as the Passenger Service Act.

Itineraries are always planned around these laws and that is why we always mention the embark and disembark ports in the contract.

This law varies in every country, for example, a guest cannot embark in Italy and then disembark in Italy without leaving the country during the cruise; i.e. having visited another country.  If a guest embarks in Italy and disembarks in Spain or Greece, then guest will be fine and this law is not in effect.

A guest can board in the middle of the voyage, if he/she can be accommodated in a stateroom and if, and only if, there will be no conflict with the Cabotage Law and if the local Port Authorities have granted permission to embark / disembark mid-cruise. (Check with your SeaDream Charter Coordinator).

If a person is only onboard visiting while the yacht is in port, the Visitor Request Form needs to be completed and submitted to your SeaDream Charter Coordinator.  Once approval has been given by the appropriate Officer, your SeaDream Charter Coordinator will send a Visitor’s Pass.
